Beyond the Lens Photography Symposium
The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts invites not only our regional community but those even further afield to join us for a very special 3-day symposium filled with dialogue surrounding the world of photography. You can choose when to join the conversation, for some or all…that’s the perk of virtual! For the same great price, you have access to ALL of our symposium lectures. Tickets are just $15 for non-members and $10 for KIA members.
The Framing Moments: Photography from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts exhibition features nearly 100 photographs that juxtapose a diverse group of photographers who reveal everyday life across rural and urban communities. It explores modern photographic aesthetics, documents pivotal moments of social change and conflict, and presents artists as both celebrities and ordinary people.
“We are thrilled to host such an eclectic group of panelists, showing what photography has done for history, and what the medium looks like for the future. I encourage anyone who has even the slightest interest in photography to join us and get a better look behind the lens.” Rehema Barber, Chief Curator at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
